Soft Wash, Scraping & PrimeRx Peel Bonding
Direct exposure to harsh southern sun had broken down the old paint film across the upper porch gable siding, leaving curled edges and bare, weathered wood. Simply brushing standard exterior paint over peeling wood causes premature failure within months as the dried edges pull away. True adhesion requires mechanical stabilization.
- Whole-House Soft Wash: We performed a soft wash around the home to lift embedded mildew, dirt, and chalky oxidation without gouging soft wood fibers.
- Mechanical Scraping & Sanding: All curling, loose paint edges were hand-scraped and feathered smooth with orbital sanding down to firmly bonded substrate.
- Exterior Void Filling: Deep gouges and rough step-downs between bare wood and intact paint were smoothed with exterior filler.
- Full PrimeRx Bonding Coat: Rather than spot-priming small areas, we applied Sherwin-Williams PrimeRx Peel Bonding Primer across the entire gable face to seal bare wood and lock down all remaining paint margins.
