Client-Hung Patch Preparation & Zero-Dust Isolation
Following an upstairs shower supply leak in this Raleigh home, an overhead drywall section in the kitchen and breakfast nook was removed to repair plumbing connections. The homeowner fastened replacement drywall panels into the ceiling framing, but called R&R to tackle the hardest trade challenge: floating multi-piece butt seams completely flat and sanding overhead in an active, fully furnished kitchen.
- Sealed ZipWall Enclosure: Before mixing compound or touching sandpaper, we erected floor-to-ceiling spring-loaded tension poles with heavy poly sheeting, sealing the work perimeter directly along the crown molding and kitchen bay window.
- Pre-Filling & Fastener Inspection: All homeowner-driven screws were checked and countersunk below the paper plane, cut edges were beveled, and open butt seam gaps were packed solid with high-density setting compound.
- High-Tensile Tape Bedding: Embedded joint tape across all seams to eliminate air blisters and resist vibration from the floor above.
